PeaZip logoSuperTuxKart Portable 0.7 has been released. SuperTuxKart is a Free 3d kart racing game. It's more about being fun than being realistic. You can play with up to 4 friends on one PC, racing against each other or just try to beat the computer. It's packaged in PortableApps.com Format so it can easily integrate with the PortableApps.com Suite. And it's open source and completely free.

Features

ScreenshotSee the great lighthouse or drive through the sand and visit the pyramids. Race under water or in space, watching the stars passing by. Have some rest under the palms on the beach (watching the other karts overtaking you :) ). But don't fall into the volcano. You can do a single race against other karts, compete in one of several Grand Prix, or try to beat the high score in time trials on your own.

I have been waiting for this game to become portable for ages. But, one problem. The game is called SuperTuxKart, not SuperTuxCart.

The tooltip on the download button is still 'Cart' Smile

Finally Biggrin

Now we just need Secret Maryo Chronicles...

I just installed it on my Kingston 16GB flash drive. The game is a lot of fun and the playability is wonderful. However, it doesn't matter if I get this running on a AMD Athlon II M300 processor @2Ghz or one intel Core 2 Duo T7200 @the same clock speed, I get missing files from the flash drive while playing it i.e. while running the game the tires image suddenly turns in black, the banana image is dark, I get to see the kart being drawing but I get no image of the driver, etc.
I tried defragging the flash drive using PerfectDisk 2011 on SMARTPlacement mode and this kept happening. I also checked windows' settings and its removal policy for this particular drive and it's set to Better performance. Have no idea of what it is. And finally, I checked up whether there are some apps trying to access the drive while I'm gaming, using Unlocker. Nothing, there are no apps trying to use it.

I'm not sure this is an issue from the app itself because so far, I did not see any complaints regarding this problem, I will keep digging this up until I get a solution and if I do so, I'll share it with you.
Many thanks to John T. Haller for this great job @PortableApps.com. Keep up the great work! Smile

I havent seen this behaviour before. Maybe your drive is slow and it cant load the images? But that would be weird as it could load them into RAM on startup. If you find out more, please post in the Other Apps Forum as thats a better place for bugs and other weirdness than as a comment on a news thread.
Thanks.

I rather frequently experience crashes when I play it on Win7x64. Has anyone else noticed that too?
