I had problems with the chrome_installer.exe when I tried to build my local version of this yesterday... I'll have to see if Google changed something on their end or you figured it out...

[Edit: Got the new url format, whee...]

Signature automatically removed for being too awesome.

It's in the installer.ini.

Did you want to do another go at updating Google Chrome Portable to PAL and have it be able to convert the passwords from current to that? The current GCP launcher has issues with Unicode paths, so I'd like to get it updated sooner rather than later.

As mentioned earlier, the download links for Chrome changed. Google made this change internally. If you open up the portable app, you can find the new URL for each package you download within installer.ini.

Have you ever considered that I cannot access "installer.ini" before I actually install the program?

Anyway - after somewhile searching, I found out new link:
http://dl.google.com/edgedl/chrome/win/20.0.1132.47_chrome_installer.exe

Save file with name "chrome_installer.exe" and place it in the same directory as this portable installer (GoogleChromePortable_20.0.1132.47_online.paf.exe). Then you can install Chrome portable without Internet connection.

If you downloaded the paf, you can find the installer.ini in the package. Just open it with something like 7zip.

I forgot we fixed the installers a while back to not install when the error occurs. Apologies for that. You can open them up with 7-Zip Portable for future reference.

for this and the last release, the 'offline install' doesn't work

I can download the Chrome installer without problems (20.0.1132.47_chrome_installer.exe),

but even though I put it in the same folder as GoogleChromePortable_20.0.1132.47_online.paf.exe, when I ran the paf file it ignored that (local) chrome_installer.exe and downloaded the file.

Is it just me or has something changed?

ps: Thanks for all the hard work on PA and all the programs Smile

Just tried it and it works as expected. Please verify you are downloading the proper file and that its MD5 matches the one listed in installer.ini first (if it doesn't it's ignored). If you have additional issues, please post a note in the support forum.

I Usually go to %temp% folder and I sort the files/folders by modified date; while the G.C. is downloaded... look for the path of the installer is being downloaded, by example:

C:\Users\(USERPROFILE)\AppData\Local\Temp\nspE269.tmp (USUALLY IS A RANDOM NAME)\Downloaded

In this - when the download is finished (And I don't close the installer) - Folder, I find a file named: chrome_installer.exe; So, this is the offline installer of google chrome. I (guess) use a smart way to rename that file. If the GCP installer have a name like - GoogleChromePortable_20.0.1132.47_online.paf.exe -
The installer is renamed like: GoogleChrome_20.0.1132.47_(chrome_installer).exe. In that way I know what version of the installer I've downloaded; when I need a GCP offline installation, I just rename the file to chrome_installer.exe - then do the installation and put it back the name (GoogleChrome_20.0.1132.47_(chrome_installer).exe).

SOrry for my english - And I hope that this wouldn´t be a STUPID REPLY , but a TIP.

You need to rename "20.0.1132.47_chrome_installer.exe" to "chrome_installer.exe" and then try to run portable installer.

Alright - in future I'll use some archiver to open .exe and peek into install.ini Smile
