Submitted by scriptdaemon on December 17, 2012 - 7:01pm

logoPingus Portable 0.7.6 has been released. Pingus is a Lemmings-style puzzle platforming game. It's packaged in PortableApps.com Format so it can easily integrate with the PortableApps.com Platform. And it's open source and completely free.

Update automatically or install from the portable app store in the PortableApps.com Platform.

Features

ScreenshotThe player takes command in the game of a bunch of small animals and has to guide them through levels. Since the animals walk on their own, the player can only influence them by giving them commands, like build a bridge, dig a hole or redirect all animals in the other direction. The goal of each level is to reach the exit, for this multiple combination of commands are necessary. The game is presented in a 2D site view.

PortableApps.com Installer / PortableApps.com Format

Pingus Portable is packaged in a PortableApps.com Installer so it will automatically detect an existing PortableApps.com installation when your drive is plugged in. It supports upgrades by installing right over an existing copy, preserving all settings. And it's in PortableApps.com Format, so it automatically works with the PortableApps.com Platform including the Menu and Backup Utility.

P.S. This will make some people happy, the DT thread got a lot of questions about its release.

P.P.S Also, the link on the app page is wrong too.

All are fixed now, sorry about that.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

"presented in a 2D site view", should it read "presented in a 2D side view"?

Not sure. The publisher typed it up that way on their own site.

This is great. I received Lemmings for the Amiga for my 12th birthday, and played it religiously for a couple years. Never beat the fourth difficulty tier, or even advanced very far. I know I completed the first one, and maybe the second one, but I at least got pretty far in the second one. Probably got halfway through the third. It got real hard after the first few. Haven't played it in years, but my wife and I have sort of a running inside joke involving penguins, so we'll get a kick out of this.

Happy holidays, everyone.
