An installer for a portable
An installer for a portable app, is it a bad joke ?
I am using portable apps also because the come (came) as a zip file !! I hate installers, whats the point !?
Umm...
They've been using installers for nearly a year now. Many non-geek users have difficulty with zip files. And some of these apps can not legally be distributed as zips. So, they're standardized on an easy to use portable installer. It doesn't make any entries on the local PC. Assists in finding the proper install location (it will autodetect an existing suite install on a device). And assists in upgrades (some apps need files deleted on an upgrade).

I hate installers too!
I see no points for portable apps to use installers. For those who are managed to run apps on portable devices, they should have the knowledge to handle zip.
Luckly, I find files inside installer can be extracted by 7-zip.

John's Hard Work
Alot of you have been complimenting John on his work ( as it should be that way ), and some gripe and complain, But what you don't understand is that John and everyone involved work their Butts off for us, NO I don't work for John
, I am a Computer Technician and I think that John and all involved should be recognized for such hard work, You go find alot of other portable app sites, and then tell me how many sites keep their apps updated like John does??. On occasion I use the Portable Apps Suite and enjoy the great features of his work, and so should you, instead of complaining about, installers, etc. We could be dealt with the option of Paying for this instead of the giving of his work, Think about it friends, John I'm sure has other things he could be doing, but he chooses to keep this updated for us.. I say - Awesome work John and Thank You So Much for your time and Effort.. Jarhead

Can I use VLC Media Player to save the stream from the Internet (for example film)? Or I can use it only for watch that stream?

Yes, i think you could stream internet videos. Just enter the URL including all parameters like http or ftp in the standard file-opening window. But as I mentioned it already, try it yourself!

Fast video download is a firefox extension which allows you to save internet streams (e.g. from youtube) to your pc as an flv file.

You guys have once again done an excellent job. Thank you for producing and maintaining such an awesome suite of apps. I love portable apps, they make switching between machines so much easier - I love OOo but got annoyed when I could open files on other peoples machines and they didn't want OOo on them. Now I have the perfect solution, take OOo with me!!! Thanks again guys - Well done!
