XAMPP LogoXAMPP Launcher 1.3 has been released. It's a simple launcher utility that lets you easily add a link to the PortableApps.com Menu for XAMPP, the portable Apache, mySQL, PHP and more package. This release updates the package to the current PortableApps.com Format and updates XAMPP's logo It's packaged in PortableApps.com Format for easy use from any portable device and integration with the PortableApps.com Suite. XAMPP itself was also updated to 1.6.6, so users should upgrade their XAMPP setup as well. Best of all, it's open source and completely free.

Features

XAMPP ScreenshotXAMPP is a complete web, database and FTP server package for Windows that's ready to go in minutes and completely portable. The full XAMPP package includes:

  • Apache
  • MySQL
  • PHP + PEAR
  • MiniPerl
  • OpenSSL
  • phpMyAdmin
  • XAMPP Control Panel
  • Webalizer
  • Mercury Mail Transport System
  • FileZilla FTP Server
  • SQLite
  • ADODB
  • Zend Optimizer
  • XAMPP Security

XAMPP Lite leaves off the additional packages and sticks to Apache, mySQL, phpMyAdmin, SQLite and related packages resulting in an installation that's significantly smaller. There are no upgrade packages for XAMPP Lite like there are for XAMPP, though.

That's exactly what I was gonna do. Update it to the latest specs and use the prettyful logo. Smile

Hi,
I'm using XAMPP, but not in main drive directories (as D:\xampp or C:\hxampp).
The original launcher is using only main directories. in few minutes i learn NSIS and done some modification in original source of the launcher.

Now I can install XAMPP in "D:\somthing\xamp" and launch it from there. You need only to create "xampp.ini" file in "XAMPPLauncher_instal_dir\Data" with 2 lines:

******* xampp.ini ***********
[xampp]
dir=D:\somthing\xamp
*****************************

If this file not exist - we have old launcher behavior.

PS: where can I upload modified launcher source code?

Its first time to try it. I Like WAMP and have been my default server. Unfortunately, there is no portable version, so I went for XAMPP.

The first time I ran, I got Apache up and running but not mySQL.
This is error I got:

xampp portable phpMyAdmin tried to connect to the MySQL server, and the server rejected the connection. You should check the host, username and password in your configuration and make sure that they correspond to the information given by the administrator of the MySQL server.

Hi,

I'm searching for the XAMPP Launcher source code, and if it is possible, for the instructions on how to compile it (Visual Studio? Eclipse CDT?).
I didn't find anywhere the source of neither the Xampp Launcher nor the Xampp control panel.
Has anyone an idea where to find it???

Best regards,
Nicola
