Just out of curiosity why is this program on here when there is a entire office package supplied by Open Office? Does this program give features that the Open Office version does not?

It is smaller and more compact.
Not everyone needs a full office suite.

Things have got to get better, they can't get worse, or can they?

As stated earlier, Abiword is much smaller and faster than Open Office. Plus, it is just a word processor, and does not have all the other programs associated with Open Office. Open Office writer is superior in many ways however. In an ideal world, we could get JUST Open Office Write portable, and that would serve all of my clients needs, however, until then having the option of either a full Open Office Install or an Abiword install is not bad. One or the other will cover most people's needs!
