New In This Release

This new release updates InfraRecorder to 0.50 (release notes) and has an improved installer and launcher.

PortableApps.com Installer / PortableApps.com Format

InfraRecorder Portable is packaged in a PortableApps.com Installer so it will automatically detect an existing PortableApps.com installation when your drive is plugged in. It supports upgrades by installing right over an existing copy, preserving all settings. And it's in PortableApps.com Format, so it automatically works with the PortableApps.com Suite including the Menu and Backup Utility.

When I install InfraRecorder Portable on a USB flashdrive the virusscan alerts me that a trojan has been detected in the file:

Date and time: 2009-08-17 01:42:06
Name: F:\PortableApps\InfraRecorderPortable\App\InfraRecorder\ckEffects.exe
Name of the file: ckEffects.exe
Identifyed as: Downloader-BPV
Status: Removed

(F:\ is what my computer calls my flashdrive)

It also says that the file came from the Program:
F:\Program\Installerade program\InfraRecorderPortable_0.50.paf.exe

I think you should do a virus-search and remove the trojan and then publish a rev2 version.

Great program so far:)

This is what's known as a false positive. It looks like an error on McAfee's part (which will also show up as eSafe). This will happen from time to time. You should contact McAfee to let them know about the issue (I don't think they make available a way for publishers to let them know about errors in their virus definitions).

Here's an analysis of the file by all the top antivirus engines:

Sorry about this. I got McAfee, not the version in the link but same false positive.
Can I use InfraRecorder without the file?
Thanks for the quick answer.

I think you may be able to. It may be for update checks. Give it a shot.

I reported the false-positive to McAfee, it should be fixed in the next definition update.

This file has to do with the visual effects available under Windows Vista Aero, the application will work without it.

I tried to install the new version on top of the old one - now I have both, because I have been spoiled by installers that remove old versions. Maybe this one ought to do that, too? Or maybe we should be warned that it doesn't? Or maybe it is OK to have both? Or maybe most users are sufficiently awake to delete the old version when they find out?

It does automatically update an old version - provided you install it to the same location. You must have installed it to a different location.

I love using this program and hate to say that I'm having issues running this on Windows 7. I just updated the software and then tried to burn a pdf to a CD and keep getting an error that the program isn't responding.

Now I'm looking for the previous release....

No, I reverted to a previous version, but it looks like a fix has been posted below.

Every time I try to burn an image onto a CD using the latest version of InfraRecorder portable 0.50 I get a Windows error message that reports cdrecord.exe error. It is important to note that upon replacing the latest version with the previous version 0.46.1 the error does not occur. Also, I get the error no matter which .ISO image file I try to burn. I think that there is something wrong with the latest version.

Could you try replacing the files within InfraRecorderPortable\App\infrarecorder with the files from the ZIP version of InfraRecorder from here to see if it works on your PC, please?

As always, your products are wonderful, but your support is even better. Following your instructions and replacing the files results in the error disappearing. What was the issue (if it's too technical or complicated to explain, don't worry about it)? Just curious. Thanks again for all that you do.

It looks like compression hampers one of the files on some versions of Windows. I'll post up a fixed version as Rev 2 shortly...

wrong version number in help.html and there is an unnecessary GetParameters.nsh included 8)

while you're at it, I remember there being a issue with ISO burning. Does anybody know if that got fixed up?
