I love this application!
I love this application! I've switched over from Axialis IconWorkshop to this because it's lightweight, portable, has all of the essential features (and more) of modern icon creation and best of all... it's free! Great to see that it has joined the PA family now. Nice work guys.
BTW: There is a little part in the features about Blender for some reason.

How is it more portable ... ?
Hello!
I really appreciate the development effort to make non-portable applications portable, e.g. OpenOffice, Thundrbird, etc. They have really changed my computing life. But I really do not understand the recent spate of announcements of freeware that has been portable all along: IceFX (http://icofx.ro/downloads.html), FreeCommander (http://www.freecommander.com/fc_u3_en.htm)
Can someone explain how are the "PortableApps" versions more portable or better than the original freeware apps?
Not necessarily "Better"
It's not necessarily that they are "better" or in some cases even different, it's that they are package in a universally accepted, open source, portable format. PortableApps.com has defined a format/structure/method for building and running applications in a portable fashion and other developers are free to adopt this "standard". In fact, it is my understanding that apps like FreeCommander and FreeOTFE (and possibily others) simply create their own PortableApps installer and make it available directly from their website. That is the open source nature of the "standard".
From an end user perspective this means that your apps are more easily updateable; just run the newest version installer and install right over the top of the old version. You don't even have to mess around with zip files. In addition, for the most part you can get your portable apps from one location which makes it easy to see when new versions are available. If my understanding is correct, even this won't be necessary in the future as a universal updater will alert you when new version of apps that you use are available.
It's basically all about making it as easy for the end user as possible, and who isn't for making their lives a little easier?
