New In This Release

PeaZip was updated to 2.8 (release notes at bottom of linked page).

PortableApps.com Installer / PortableApps.com Format

PeaZip Portable is packaged in a PortableApps.com Installer so it will automatically detect an existing PortableApps.com installation when your drive is plugged in. Most users don't need a zip utility. For users that only occasionally need to unzip a file, Windows has support built in. We don't want the suite to include everything even though most users don't need it (or worse, a hundred or more apps where most users won't use 95% of them and there are dozens of duplicate apps)... it's just the basics that pretty much everybody needs and a couple of very tiny games. Adding and removing apps is very easy, so anyone that needs PeaZip can add it.

There's also the thing of file size. 7-Zip, as well as being better than PeaZip in what it supports, is smaller (PeaZip is a 5MB download, 7MB installed, 7-Zip is only 1.4/2.5MB). So in my opinion, there'd be a far more compelling reason to go with 7-Zip than PeaZip in the suite if we were. I agree with John though that most users just don't need it (and after 2.0 it'll be even easier to install new applications right from the platform).
