PNotes is one of my core applications. It's dead useful! I appreciate and am grateful for its PortableApps support, because otherwise I might never have discovered this gem.

Cheers!

OH MY GOD I HAD A VIRUS ON MY COMPUTER AND OM MY GOD I INFECTED THIS FILE AND MY GOD WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN!?

Yeah. There is no virus in PNotes 6.5 Portable! I use a mostly dedicated laptop to make my releases. I keep careful control over this computer to insure that nothings infecting it.

I've taken the liberty of uploading it to virus total

9/42. There's no virus here. Move Along

Actually Oliver,

9/43 (20.9%)

IS cause for legitimate concern.

Normally I think we say 3 or less is not cause for concern.

While I'm sure that the app is NOT infected you should not fluff off the concern of the user so lightly.

Did you upload the app to VT before it was released to see if this was a possibility? I think all apps should be uploaded to VT and Jotti so at least users can be given a heads up, and also the dev could try to get in touch with some of the bigger vendors and file a FP report.

Things have got to get better, they can't get worse, or can they?

Its less then that, considering that kapersky is incorrectly flagging it, one says its suspicous file.

The base app is actually being flagged more heavily then our repackaging, which goes to show how little virus scanners actually know.

Again, there's no virus and I have reported to avast and mcafee. I am not seeing an option to report false positives from other virus scanners, but I will keep looking.

Hey, that's all anyone can ask for, Thanks Oliver,

McAfee VirusScan Enterprise informs that this installer contains a trojan: Artemis!1C916DA71D15

They've been informed that its a false positive. I contacted them, but have not heard back. Avast! has already replied and agreed that it is a false positive.

i can't install it (yes I broke my computer... cry cry, have to use library, though pnotes is the only one that is blocked, i think)

if you can't install it, its a failure of your A\V software. Submit it as a sample and a false positive to whoever made your A\V. i can only do so much.

It is Kapersky, and the KCMO public library system.

I am thinking it is not worth the effort.

I'm at the local college, let's see if it installs here...

...

...yep, no problem. They use MS Forefront Client Security.

oh, i remember pnotes, yeah, this is great!

Good job

Thanks to berryth from PNotes forum, who has sent the files to Kaspersky to check for a false positive.:

--------------------------- Hello,
Email-Worm.Win32.Warezov.gxd
Sorry, it was a false detection. It will be fixed in the next update.
Thank you for your help.

They (antivirus laboratories) just don't know what to do with files that are empty libraries without code and with resources only.
It's not the first time I'm faced with such problem.
