I have two PA.c setups on this machine, using drive D: and drive P:

Each has Thunderbird with "AllowMultipleInstances=true" in ThunderbirdPortable.ini

Prior to the upgrade I could start TB from drive D: then start the second copy from drive P: - they would run separately alongside one another without issue.

Now, if I start the copy from drive D: then try to start the second copy from drive P: it simply opens the already running version on D: (and vice versa).

How do I get back to "normal" behaviour of being able to run multiple instances?

Regards

Nick

For now I've rolled back one of the TB installations to 3.1.6. I can run 3.1.6 alongside 3.1.7 without problems - I just can't run two instances of 3.1.7.

Nick

posted in the PTG Forum (https://portableapps.com/forums/support/thunderbird_portable), worked OK with 3.1.6.

Is there a method of rolling back to a previous version?

EDIT:
Rollback - just "backinstalling" PTB 3.1.6 over PTB 3.1.7 seem to work just fine - remember backup though Smile Now I can run 2 instances of PTB 3.1.6 and i of PTB 3.1.7 alongside each other without problems so far.

Thunderbird dropped support for MOZ_NO_REMOTE in 3.1.7. They are still supporting another switch, so see this to enable it:
https://portableapps.com/node/25820

Keep in mind that this feature is not officially supported by PortableApps.com or Mozilla and will leave bits behind on each PC and could be removed in any release.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Thanks, John. I've added the line "AdditionalParameters=-no-remote" to ThunderbirdPortable.ini for both installations, upgraded the second to 3.1.7 again and can now run multiple instances of 3.1.7. In general I only move my PA.c stuff between two machine - both of which are mine - so leaving stuff on the host machines isn't a major issue.

Having said that, is there any prospect of a cleaner, supported, solution at any stage?

Regards

Nick
