I've fixed it in all the text (a few internal paths are still FreeCiv, John will need to fix them).

Front page still needs changing, and I noticed (for next release) that FreeCivPortable.exe also needs changed (everything else in the package seems correct).

EDIT: Also, Andy hasn't been given a dev badge.

Thank you for your work on Freeciv Portable and congratulations on having it released Smile

Any chance of getting it listed on the Freeciv Download page?

A note on their RSS Feed would be good on for FreeCiv Portable as well.

Thanks to who ever put together the update for 2.2.4. I saw the installer post last week but have been too build to update the installer.

Thanks!

Sure thing, Andy. And thanks for putting the app together for everybody to enjoy. Welcome to the team! Smile

Just that, added the official splash and added a 128px appicon. Also removed the additional formats from appicon.ico.

I went into Campaign/whatever, and none would load. I started with Tutorial, and tried a bunch of others. The "OK" button does nothing. Am I doing something wrong?

I know nothing about Freeciv or the original Civilization, they're not even my type of games, so the fault could well be with me... I just wanted to give it a spin. Not many games work on this computer...

I had my windows firewall thing pop up and say it blocked some features of the server Sad

I just downloaded Freeciv 2.2.4 and think it is a great game so far. I run it from a portable hard drive, and noticed that I can't save my game.

Is there a fix for this?

Thanks

Marc

I too look forward to your response. I also am unable to save.
Unfortunately, unless you've got 8+ straight hours to play, the lack of save make this unusable. Sad
I do greatly appreciate the effort though.

I'm not sure what is going on.

Save is grayed out in the portable version, but when I install the standard version, it works. I'll need to contact the developers to see what logic they use to enable/disable save.

It would appear that this problem has existed since 2.2.2, but was missed. I'll let you know when I have a fix.

I was having the same problem but found a temporary work around. If you run the '\App\Freeciv\freeciv-gtk2.exe' you will find you can save games and even load up all the autosaved games.

Looks like the game autosaves after each turn you make.

That most likely breaks portability completely, just so you know. If you move to a different computer your saved games probably won't be there.

I started a new thread in Beta Testing for the new launcher.

https://portableapps.com/node/26152

It appears that they are no longer using the HOME environment variable to determine where the save files should go. I've done a quick and dirty copy of the directory until I can figure out whether or not I can redirect that location.

As mentioned in the thread you pointed to removing the stray " mark at the end of the HOME line in the FreecivPortable\App\AppInfo\LauncherFreecivPortable.ini file allows save/load functionality to work in the original 2.2.4 release.

Thanks again.
