PortableApps.com is proud to announce the PortableApps.com Platform Version 11.0 Beta 2 (codename: Curiosity) test release. This release improves keyboard navigation support introduced in Beta 1, improves menu and updater localization, has several bug fixes and adds some advanced features. It's intended for testers, advanced users and translators to get things in shape before the stable release. If you'd like to see more features and functionality keep coming, please donate to PortableApps.com to help. It's never been more important. The new beta platform releases is available for immediate download. Another platform beta with additional new functionality will be released tomorrow (Wednesday). New in 11.0 Beta 2

Today's beta release adds Windows 7 taskbar progress and a handy report on installed apps in the About window split into PortableApps.com Format and non-PA.c Format apps (useful for organizing your software and updating apps to PA.c Format as they are released). Keyboard navigation has been improved in this release as well. All menu strings are now available for localization. Additionally, several bugs were fixed. Read the PortableApps.com Platform Changelog for the full list of features and fixes.

11.0 Beta Roadmap

We'll be releasing a new beta with additional functionality and fixes every 2 to 3 days on average going forward, which will be quick and painless to users thanks to the new incremental platform update support. Planned features for 11.0 and 12.0 over the coming weeks include integrated file associations (instead of needing an add-on set to auto-start with the platform), retention of app installers, customization of platform folders, new automation functionality, search enhancements, speed improvements and lots more. After debating between a longer 11.0 beta with all the features and splitting it into an 11 and 12 release to get more features 'stable' faster, we decided to move forward with a faster 11.0 release to get features in all users hands as soon as possible. We're finishing up 11.0 Beta 3 for tomorrow (Wednesday) with some more new features and will need translators to polish up some final features for 11.0 stable soon after. Keep an eye on the site, RSS or the updater for the announcement. Thanks!

Also, there is an incremental update bug in the download portion of the updater in Beta 1/2, so everyone is getting a 3MB download instead of 1.5MB for Beta 1 to Beta 2. We'll have it fixed tomorrow for subsequent betas and platform stable releases.

The 11.0 Beta 3 build is shaping up nicely and will drop actual tomorrow (Wednesday) instead of the pseudo-tomorrow (Tuesday) I referenced when I originally posted this at 1:30am this morning (Tuesday). The dangers of late-night coding sessions in action. Good night all. Smile
