Portable Innotek Virtual Box

Virtual Box (http://www.virtualbox.org/) is a free powerful x86 virtualization product. It would be handy to have the program portable, so a toolkit of virtual machines can be started anywhere.

Yep.

Search the forums before you post. This has been mentioned many times before. John is working on an official version at the moment.

The problem with Portable Virtual PC is that only works if you have administrator access/password.

Zombified!

I'm bringing this thread back from the dead because I really think a Portable Virtualbox would be awesome on most of today's machines.

Most of the ones I've tried kind of suck. I'd love to see it packaged as a Portable App by the portableapps.com crew. These releases are always easier/more solid.

CANNOT BE DONE

It requires administrative privlages which screws up its portability.

it required drivers (vbox drivers) to be installed and setup which also requires a reboot. this is also not portable by design

if you want it portablised go ask Oracle to fix their code so it can be done.

Not true

It does require administrative privileges, but the driver installation doesn't require a reboot. Thus the vbox.me one is possible. After implementing services/drivers in the PortableApps.com Launcher, I'm intending to have a go at making a simple PortableApps.com Format version of VirtualBox. But up until then, the vbox.me one is the way to go.
