OpenOffice startup

Hi!

Here's my problem; I'm trying to run OpenOffice from my IronKey. I've installed OpenOffice and it appears to run just fine. However, the temp files get placed on by default on C:. If I change the default path to the drive\path of the IronKey volume for the current computer, for example I:\temp (which works), but then I move to another computer, the drive has changed to f: but the path in OpenOffice is still showing I:\temp. I can manually change it but I'd rather it be done automatically; i.e. pickup the current drive that OpenOffice is running from, and use that for the location of the temp files.

Why is this important? Well, the IronKey is encrypted and secure, any files written to it are secure, but any temp files written on a different drive would not be.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Temp Path

By default, the temp path is within OpenOfficePortable\Data\temp. If you've changed it, you'd need to reset your setting (delete everything in the Data folder) to do it.

Anything that's IronKey-specific isn't supported as it's a proprietary platform.

Well, OpenOffice seems to be working fine on IronKey; I'm just concerned about where the temp files are created.

I'm not sure it would be IronKey specific because the same situation happens when any USB key is started; it gets the next available drive letter, right?

Like I said

The temp path is INSIDE OpenOffice.org Portable's directory, so it moves with OO regardless of where it is. The drive letter is not used for this.

If there's anything else going on due to launching it from within IronKey (environment variables changed or something that causes different behavior), we can't assist you.

By default, the temp path is

By default, the temp path is being set to c:\document and settings\\local settings\temp. It is not OpenOfficePortable\Data\temp.

This is under Tools\Options\OpenOffice.org\paths\Temporary files. The Default button sets it to the above.

No

That's OpenOffice.org's default. Remember, OO itself isn't being changed code-wise. OO Portable's default (on first run) is OpenOfficePortable\Data\temp. As I already stated, the way to reset this is to clear the Data directory.

UPDATE: Scratch what I just posted. It seems there is a bug in the current release where it won't properly set the TEMP directory for OO in most instances. It's fixed in the upcoming 2.3.1 release (which I'm in the process of packaging) though you will need to reset your settings.
