LimeWire Portable version 1.0.0.2

I saw a number of topics on the App Request board requesting LimeWire portable, so here it is. Obviously, it won't run properly on a computer without the JRE installed, because LimeWire is coded entirely in Java. It uses the PortableApps directory structure. The launcher is made in AutoIt3 instead of NSIS, because I just plain like it better. You MUST read readme.txt in the LimeWirePortable directory, because this download doesn't include LimeWire (I wanted to include LimeWire Pro users without breaking any laws.) The readme file will explain what to do. The launcher must be run on a computer with LimeWire Basic or Pro installed the first time, then it will work portably. All source code is included. And so, without further ado:

LimeWirePortable.paf.exe

Sorry about the whole MediaFire thing, but I don't have a website or another good file host. At least it's better than RapidShare.

EDIT: Version 1.0.0.2: Heh, found a bug. I forgot to define a variable. Also, now the "Copying Files..." window is centered on the screen. Link is updated.

EDIT: Oops. I don't know what I did wrong, but the re-uploaded version didn't work for me. Re-compiled, re-UPXed, re-7Zed and re-uploaded.

Actually...

There's a few people making a proper patch for Limewire. Should be integrated into the trunk build soon.

Just curious...and a little off topic..

Does this work with FrostWire as well? Anyone know? I prefer FrostWire because it isn't nagware and is faster than LimeWire Basic. Like I say, it is a little off topic, but I know that they are built from same source.

FrostWire for those who are interested can be found here.

Limewire 4.16

Limewire portable 9.97MB

Now what exactly is the difference to the regular Limewire and Limewire Pro besides the faster download speeds?

Download Link: http://rapidshare.com/files/82371427/LimeWire_4.16.1.zip.html

P.S. by a show of posts, who uses Limewire?

Limewire is open source but Pro isn't. Also, did you included the source for your own modifications/launcher?

Idiot.

LimeWire Pro is paid software and it is illegal to download Pro without paying for it. See notes above.

I love how the portable

I love how the portable version gathers the files needed from the computer, and does not contain any program files itself. Is there any way you can create the same thing again, but when you run the EXE for the first time, instead of gathering the files necessary for LimeWire, have it ask the user for a directory of a program and do the same thing, thus allowing it to make almost any app portable? Of course it won't work on apps that leave files, settings or use registry entries.

Has Virus!!!

at first i saw this and imedietly downloaded it being a fellow user of limewire, i used it and worked great no problems at all until i ran my avast virus scan within 30seconds it shouts at me in its little automated voice "virus has been detected" i look at its location: 2/27/2008 11:16:41 PM 5376 Sign of "Win32:Gaobot-2435 [Trj]" has been found in "F:\PortableApps\LimeWirePortable\App\LimeWire\.NetworkShare\LimeWireWin4.16.2.exe" file.
at first i thought it was a mistake knowing limewire aint legal but i did my research and my avast was right thats the last time i get beta

unless multiple virus

unless multiple virus detection programs say it's an issue, it is likely a false positive. If you are unsure of it, try scanning it with some of the online scanners that allow you to upload a file for testing.

The link to Frostwire

The link to Frostwire Portable works, or did last time I looked. It's even the latest version.
