SearchNut Hijacker and Thunderbird Portable

Rudzer - February 28, 2008 - 6:19pm

Ok, I do understand there are false positives due to the nature of the applications but nevertheless this one does seem to be only reason to justify some anomalous behaviors.

This screenshot shows the issue:

As for Searchnut, this page (and you can find a lot more) can describe the highjack and what it does:

False Positive

As mentioned, please confirm with another application before submitting. This is another false positive. Registry.dll is used by the Thunderbird Portable launcher yo handle registry reads and writes. It's part of the Nullsoft Scriptable Installer System set of standard plugins and is used by installers from several major companies.

Most antispyware software has numerous issues with false positives. Malwarebytes is no exception. They just had a false positive with Notepad++ today. I'd suggest reporting it in their False Positives Forum.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
