File format reccomendation

Submitted by Stevoisiak on February 29, 2008 - 1:24pm.

I use 7-Zip, when I noticed that for Mac-On-A-Stick, I needed to extract a file for it to work. Unfortuanatly, it was in a bin file, which 7-Zip does not support. There are other programs that will do the job, but I am suggesting for the next release that .bin files are supported.

Hello! Welcome to

Hello! Welcome to PortableApps.com
At PortableApps.com, we, um, don't actually write the programs.
What we, er, John T. Haller does is looks at the program and analyzes what it does to the system's registry, folders, etc. He then writes an NSIS program that allows the program to be run on any Window Operating System, while maintaining the host computer's settings.

The proper place to submit this request is to submit a feature request at the 7-zip Feature Request Forum

Again, welcome to PortableApps.com. We hope you enjoy your stay.

As for the Mac-On-A-Stick Tutorial, there is an in-depth tutorial here.

Good gracious! There goes a kangaroo. I must have a practice with me boomerang- Now then, slowly back
If you throw that thing at me, I'll jump right on your head.
Innit marvellous? Got a land full of kangaroos and I had to pick that one.

Sorry

PortableApps.com only packages 7-Zip as a Portable App ,the actual development is done by the 7zip developing team. You could ask in their forums but lots of people have suggested new formats there and Igor Pavlov (the head developer) has said about disc images "I don't plan it for near future". So i guess you´ll have to use other programs.

This request needs to go in

This request needs to go in the official 7-zip Forums. Here at PortableApps.com, we simply add a wrapper to the base application to make it run portably.

I knew that

Yeah, I knew it wasn't developed here. I just didn't really know where else to ask it. Plus, I thought that 7-Zip may occasionally check in on feedback from there product here. Also, thanks for the Mac-on-a-stick link. I'll go check it out.
