Nvu?

Do you mean Nvu? Yes, they can... and that's what KompoZer's been created from.

.

Thats Great. Now If Someone In This World, ome Wonderful And Kind Person, Could To That. There Is Just Something About Nuv That I Like More Than KompoZer :)

Lol, What?

There Is Just Something About Nuv That I Like More Than KompoZer

KompoZer is Nvu, with a few bugfixes, couple improvements, and a new icon. Nobody in there right mind would 'Update Nvu' as it would just turn out the same as KompoZer, just with the same name.

I Remember Now!

I Like The Logo Better :)

Now Come On A Feather??????? Am I Suppose To Laugh?
Weird.......

Computer: xUbuntu 8.10 Running ScrapIRC.

Lol

Local or Portable install? You don't need to download source code for the Portable install, on a Local install, just hack it, or change the icon in the shortcut.

.

Yep. then start it up and then theres a big KompoZer Icon on the app. haha, this question is for kicks, what if someone took kompozer and put Nvu icons were kompozer icons were and released it? would that be illigal?

Computer: xUbuntu 8.10 Running ScrapIRC.

Yes, it would be

Yes, it would be. It would be trademark infringement. That's why the continuation has a different name and logo. Nvu is, for all intents and purposes, dead.

Live with purpose.

Im Confused Now

How Did KompoZer Start Up Then If It Was Made From Nvu? Did They Ask Permission To Remove It?

I'm Learning.

Computer: xUbuntu 8.10 Running ScrapIRC.

They didnt need permission

They didnt need permission to remove the logo...they would have needed permission to keep it.

This is like John's agreement with Mozilla to keep the Firefox, Thunderbird and Sunbird names and logos. They are copyrighted/trademarked, so while it would have been perfectly fine for John to name/logo his packages CowTongue, SoccerMom and FishSticks, even though the base application really was FF, TB, and SB, he needed Mozilla's permission to keep the original names and logos.

OMG u made my day!!!! TY TY TY

Im Still Confused Though.
If You Use Your Own Logo On The App. What Do You Need To Do To Legally Release It?

Its Just A Question. Im Not Planning On Doing Nothin!

Computer: xUbuntu 8.10 Running ScrapIRC.

If you use your own logo,

If you use your own logo, you need to make sure that ALL references to the original name/logo are removed from the source code, the compiled app, and any included documentation.

Of course this only applies in cases where the name/logos are copyrighted or trademarked.

And That Goes Back To My Question Posted In The Off Topic Area.
Ok I Think I Understand Most Of This Stuff Now.

NVU?

Nuv? did you mean NVU? because if you did then the answer is Kompozer, which is nvu continued by someone else and is also on this site. if you really meant "nuv" then i have no idea what program you're talking about since i didn't see anything for it in google.

edit: i'm too slow
