Save Window Positions?

Submitted by MadTxn on April 18, 2008 - 9:45am

Greetings, all. I have Gimp Portable 2.4.5 running on a Thinkpad T61 running WinXP. I'm having an issue where it will not save my main window position (the one with the tools on it). I usually have that window on the far left, sized the same height as my screen, and the Navigation/Histogram/etc. window on the far right, same height. I go to preferences and save window positions, but it doesn't seem to "stick". I'm not using the background window plugin. The only thing that *may* be odd is that I use two screens. But I always keep the GIMP windows on the laptop screen. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I still have the problem on version 2.4.7. Any ideas?

Portable?

Since I am assuming that your using the portable version, that is probably a good thing, since if you were using a computer with a HUGE screen or multiple screens and it saved the position outside of the drawing area, then you would not be able to load it inside of another computer with a smaller screen.

Hehehe after reviewing your post two times now, I realized that you stated it was portable multiple times.. lol, so either way, my statements still stand, now I just look like a dunce...

I have found that if I wish

I have found that if I wish to save a new window location (or other things like fonts not found in c:fonts/ delete the settings in GIMPPortable\Data and restart GIMP

to save window position on ANY window

When you close it

Ctrl+click on the X button and it will save the position, but only on that comp.

I hope that helps

well...

It will save info on the home computer, but that is information that would be non-removable anyway, so it really does not matter.
