installing appsSubmitted by tinker on May 8, 2008 - 7:18am
I downloaded thunderbird portable and tried to install it on my usb with portableapps but it doesn't work. Tried it 2 different ways: 1) install new app menu in portableapps 2) clicked on thunderbird paf.exe file on my pc Both did not work. Also, tried to upgrade firefox to new version using same 2 ways above. Didn't work. What is problem? ( categories: )

Do you use
the standard layout?:
P:/Documents
P:/PortableApps
P:/PortableApps/FirefoxPortable
P:/PortableApps/ThunderbirdPortable
What is the path you are installing it to?

Could you tell us the error if any
Also, did you download the files by left clicking on the buttons, or by right-clicking and chooseing Save Target As?
path is H:\portable
path is H:\portable software\portableapps
Also, I think I left clicked on the download button.
If your path
isnt the standard one, you'll have to manually set it to point to H:\portable software\portableapps
That should work.

ok, how do you set it
ok, how do you set it manually?
sure
If you run the installer, the first thing you see is the welcom page. After you hit "next", you see the "install location page". hit the "browse" button and pick the location you need. hit "OK and then "install".

I'm unsure if and how spaces
I'm unsure if and how spaces in filenames are handles. Could I suggest just moving the PortableApps folder to the root of your portable device?
