Minimum requirment for a USB Key to install Portable AppsSubmitted by pompier132 on May 9, 2008 - 11:28pm
Hi, I'm new here, A friend took the time to show me Portable Apps on his Cruzer Micro USB Key. My question: What is the minimum size for a USB Key ? 1Gb? 2Gb? 4Gb? Because I have two 1Gb, one has the u3 version on it and won't work with every PC. ( categories: )

Smaller
Actually, smaller is fine :-)
The PortableApps.com Platform will even work from a 16MB (yes, megabyte) key.
Live with purpose.
Since 256MB flash drives
Since 256MB flash drives became quite a rarity and even 512MB drives aren't sold that much anymore you always will have enough space to run some Portable Apps. Even if you install all the official released apps AND all the beta portable app installers available in the beta forum you might find that they all fit on a 8GB and maybe even on a 4GB drive. (Not counting the 600MB game launchers though :)
Bottom line is even the smallest flash drives can be useful, and a bit bigger ones will leave enough room for additional documents and files.
And with prices of flash drives dropping and size increasing all the time it seems portable applications have a bright future.
