16px is still hard to see. How about leave it for the rest of the formats, but change it to just the circles and the pointer (like what you had before) for the 16px format.
Also, is it necessary to have the word 'open' in the box? Leave it in the 256px format, but you can't really read it for anything other than the 256px format anyway.

but here are my options:
CAFE is already used, that was the original app.
CAFE Portable is also already used in another mod from the original app.
CAFE USB, etc... I don't really like it. Adding a suffix to CAFE isn't going to cut it for me.
I'm not going to keep using the name CAFE Mod, it sounds like it is an unsupported modification of the original app. Definitely not a permanent name.
Therfore, I have no choice but to move to another name.
Can you see why I'm moving away from CAFE now? It's not like I'm going to change the name overnight and leave everyone in the dark as to what i've done, I'll still have prominent messages saying that the app used to be called CAFE Mod.

You can usually tell who will make it big just by the name. For example, I'm sure there will never be a national/international chain of supermarkets called "Bob's corner store" or something similar. Usually those places have names which say exactly what they do. What I'm trying to say is that the new name does not (or IMO, SHOULD NOT) say what it does. Although you want to move away from the "CAFE" name, we don't have to move away from that idea. Espresso has a nice feel to it, as does Carafe.

I didn't like some of the added features(i.e. Run Box) to the CAFE Mod and hated the GUI layout, so a while back i did my own personal MOD of CAFE and renamed it "Execute - File Extension Manager for Portable Applications".

Why change the icon, it looks good. The older one was kinda crappy but this one is nice.
About the name IMO it's a little disrespectful to the others that worked in this app to just move away from the original name like it was a completely different app.
Why fix it if it ain't broken...

The original authors ignored all of my initial requests to work together/update/join our forums, so I continued to bugfix and add features to their base application. It essentially became a new app because so much had changed. I don't think changing a name would be offensive at all.
Brian is now taking over development from me because I no longer have the time to continue development.

You see, the creators of Flock didn't call Flock "Firefox Mod," did they? No, because that really doesn't sound complete, nor does it sound attractive to users. They changed the code in Firefox for more features and gave it a slightly (ever so slightly) different purpose. It's the same with CAFE. Zach changed the code, and now it's evolving into something different, as with Flock. You see, because the software's code has changed, and its purpose is changing, even though you have the same codebase.

CAFE Portable isn't copyrighted, but it's in use. It's better to come up with a name not in use, just to avoid confusion.
CAFE Mod and CAFE do have the same purpose, but CAFE Mod is essentially a new app now because of all the changes it went through. Some examples include restructuring some of the GUIs, optimizing code, adding functionality, and the biggest change is that CAFE Mod actually works correctly (most of the time). Digging through the source code for the original CAFE, there were several features that are in CAFE Mod that were partially coded, then just stopped and never referenced again.
I don't think changing the name is that big of a deal. Not only is it a different app anyway, but it will then have a proper name and be able to become it's own app, instead of an improved clone of an existing app.
For an example of app's that are built on the same code, one is just modded, look at KompoZer and NVU. KompoZer is a modded and improved NVU mod. I believe KompoZer still credits the NVU team for the base code, I plan to keep credit to the original authors in this app as well.

How about "StickyFiles", because it "sticks" datafiles to their application? Or ExeTie (pronounced x-e-tie) to "tie" files to a .exe?
Edit: a possible icon for "StickyFiles" is a file folder with a jar of honey; for ExeTie a file or folder tied in string?

CAFE has a 'Paused' mode, and I need another icon for that. Can you change the blue rings in the icon to red, and have all the formats without the white rectangle (like This one)? Also, can you send me an ico file with that new icon, and this old one (cafe16pre.png)?
This will have the blue circles for normal, and the red circles for paused.

For the icon, i prefer it with the "white rectangle" That rectangle is a file, and CAFE is used to associate files to executables, so it makes more sense. without the file image, it looks more like an application that would send out a series of rings to help you find your mouse pointer.

About the icon i like ZachHudock's idea of putting a "file" in the icon, altought i still like the current icon, don't know who made it but it's way better than the original... (i like the pause sign on the paused icon, it's pretty much self-explanatory, don't have to remember which color or icon is for paused mode and which is for working mode...)
I did it
I made that icon. It was a hybrid of the generic executable & removable drive icons from the tango set, along with the letter C. Made it with my limited graphics skills when I started updating CAFE. :p It also doesn't say much about what the app does, I can't really tell that the disk drive icon part is supposed to be removable.
I want to have a more professional looking icon, and that's why I've got NeoRame doing it for me :) .
The original (Outdated pre beta 5 cafe) icon is part of the default set for AutoHotkey, the languange CAFE is coded in. H for "Hotkey running" and S for "Stoped", or something along the lines of that.
Red is pretty much the universal color for stop, so I thought it would be kind of easy to distinguish between the other icon, blue.

Well, I think I'm going to go with eXpresso as the new name. Any last comments? I think eXpresso is the most unique, out of all the names submitted. Thanks to Tim for the suggestion!
