i want to develop linux portable portable but i would like some help as i am not a programmer by trade. i think that ubuntu is the best one for the portable application i know most of delvlopers will have linux any way because it is the industery standard.

Try PenDriveLinux.com. I've found it really helpful, and I think that you can find all you need there. There's a tutorial on how to use Qemu emulation to run within Windows, or there's another tutorial on how to boot from the drive. Let me know if that helps.
