GIMP 2.4.6 will not open .SVG file

kenney9226 - June 18, 2008 - 8:47am

When I try opening a .svg file, I get an error message as follows:

Plug-in crashed: "svg.exe"
(G:\GIMPPortable\App\gimp\lib\gimp\2.0\plug-ins\svg.exe)

The dying plug-in may have messed up GIMP's internal state. You may want to save your images and restart GIMP to be on the safe side.

How is this plug-in "dying," and what can I do to bring it back to life?

Thanks for your help!

Kenny

Reinstall?

I don't have any other ideas personally other than try reinstalling. All your data will be preserved.

I reinstalled once already,

I reinstalled once already, and only have GIMP installed on my thumb drive. Is there a place where I can download this plugin?

Would the fact that this is GIMP 2.4.6 and the plug in is in a file labeled "2.0" make a difference?

Thank sagain for your help!

Kenny

Local GIMP

Do you have the same issue with a locally installed copy of GIMP?

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Gimp 2.4.6

Did it work in Gimp 2.4.5?
Because Gimp 2.4.6 was actually a small bug release. There isn't even a binary of it on the GIMP site

If it did work on an earlier version, i'd advise you re-install that version.
In terms of user experience there is no difference between gimp 2.4.6 and gimp 2.4.5

cool

I downloaded the 2.4.6 GIMP from this portableapps site, how can I go about to get version 2.4.5? The portable apps site made it easy and simple to load on my thumb drive, and sadly I am not the most savvy of installers otherwise.

Thanks again for all of your help!

Kenny

That did it!

The 2.4.5 version works on both computers I use this GIMP on. 2.4.6 opened the .svg files at home but not at work. The 2.4.5 version works at both locations.

Thank you so much for your help!
