Skipe is just portable
Starting from V1.4, it is now possible to run Skype in a portable manner through new command-line switches.
How to:
Download the installer and install to the default folder. There should be three folders available: Phone, Pictures and Wallpaper. Copy Phone\Skype.exe to a folder of your choice. Under that folder, create a subfolder called data. Copy Pictures and Wallpaper to the data subfolder. Finally, uninstall the program. Launch the program by using "Skype.exe /datapath:data /removable".

This does work but ...
I found that this works for pretty much everything but the PM (plugin manager.) The PM still looks to the local drive for its plugin data which is a problem if the user doesn't have Skype already installed on that machine. I noticed that if Skype is installed on the machine it will use the local SkypePM as a plugin manager for the self made portable version of Skype. As far as I know there are no command-line switches for SkypePM. That being said, most of the plugins are lame anyways so who cares?

I made an installer for it
I made an installer for it for my buddies. I agree, with you in that I'm not too keen on the new interface.

I tried installing Skype and it works
Has anybody an idea, how Skype can be started from the Application Menu?
The menu builds itself generically and I can see 'Skype', but I don't know how to configure the command line switches that are required.
Installer?
