Confirmation?
Is only my computer affected? Do you need more informations about my system?
Any news?
you´re right
it´s the talkback addon, I deleted it when I upgraded from the last version.Don´t know whether it can be omitted in the SunbirdPortablePack. Since TBP and FirefoxP come witout talkback addon it probably escaped the "end control".

Thanks!
...it probably escaped the "end control" haha, that's good
I have uninstalled the Talkback-Addon, and nothing is left behind now.
Thanks!
Is it
in the current package?
Or is it only present because the installer didn't delete it?

Current package
Sunbird Portable 0.8
I can confirm that at least for the German package

Oh, right,
at least in the current german package! I haven't checked the other versions.
The Talkback-Addon is on the run, fearing the "end control".
So, since you´ve discovered the threat, "talkback" belongs to
a moribund species...(-> non portable "control"), but ...
never give up: "chrome" is growing - a unique browser ID will ensure full portable tracking all over the world, no end of control, no disorder, no KAOS.

EDIT: NOW FOR SERIOUS
seems that Talkback isn´t included within the en package, haven´t checked the other languages -> could be a problem limited to the German package.
@Simeon, MarkoMLM -> a note on the German app page or a (rev) upload seem to be necessary

Nope
It's just a simple bug, it was accidentally included. No need to get all "OMG SERIOUS" on the product page, no note is necessary.
You'll note that Firefox doesn't list bugs on their product page either. The only time we mention a bug on a product page is for dataloss bugs or if a bug left personal information behind.
This will be addressed in the 0.9 release which is just around the corner.

Oh yes, and it seems I have neglected the pre 1.0 release note which already covers those bugs..

Ahh, good!
So you'll entrap the last "talkback" around the corner. Well, it was a long run, so the "talkback" gets almost tired.
Portable Sunbird 0.9
Found a portable version [link removed by moderator JTH], but I guess it's not from PortableApps.com. So maybe it's illegal. Other Apps at this site are from PortableApps.com.
@mods: Remove the link if necessary!
Yeah
Yeah, that would be using Mozilla's Sunbird trademark without permission. Not to mention the fact that 0.9 hasn't been released yet. It's on the server, but until it's announced, it's not official (ie it could be pulled).

OK
Not to mention the fact that 0.9 hasn't been released yet. So the guys are really fast
I think they upload the first package they can get, not verifing if it's legal. Therefore some apps are from PortableApps.com and some aren't.
Yeah
There are several irresponsible folks like that out there that just try and get something out there first and then try and promote it, often releasing packages of Firefox, Sunbird, etc pulled from an RC build or the 'final' build posted to Mozilla's FTP server before it's announced on mozilla.com/.org. But, as Mozilla says, until they announce it, it isn't the official bits... it could be removed or changed.

right now http://www.mozilla.org/projects/calendar/ (the project homepage) lists 0.9 as the currently released version. is there a different announcement to which you are referring?
No
It wasn't there at 12:15. It is now.
And I knew someone was gonna be a wise ass and ask that after it was posted.

fwiw, i was just honestly curious
fwiw, i was just honestly curious if there was a specific type of announcement before which you make sure you never release the portable app version.
i am super grateful for all of the effort you have put into making so many apps portable.
peace,
david
On Site
In Mozilla world, it's not official until they post it to the app's homepage. Before then, it's just a binary that will probably be official.
