The article in question is suggesting you could recompile the program from it's source after making the need changes [ugh, don't even ask Sticking out tongue ]

or

Use one of the Mods [Modifications of the PAM which are not supported]
http://portableapps.com/node/8569

The next version of the Official PAM will have this feature so if it's not urgent, and i think it's not, you could just wait.

Are you a programmer?

The PortableApps.com menu system gets the "appnameportable" from inside the program that has been custom-created that launches each application.

So, the people in that other thread are saying that if you want to continue to use the PortableApps.com menu, the way to change the "appnameportable" is to re-program that custom-created launcher for each application.

If you don't understand the other thread, you probably aren't a programmer and you probably wouldn't want to pursue that solution.

A much easier solution is to use a different menu system. Since the PortableApps.com menu system is open source, there are several people (or groups of people) who have made modifications to the PortableApps.com menu system. One of the major advantages of the "mods" is the ability to easily change "appnameportable" to "appname" on the menu listing.

These "mods" are not officially supported by PortableApps.com because they are not official.
