Pidgin Chats

ggrosser - October 1, 2008 - 2:35am

I have a question about accounts on Pidgin. I currently have my windows live & Facebook account set up through Pidgin. From what I understand, I will be able to chat with people on both accounts at one time, correct?

But, I do have several friends that are on other chat programs such as yahoo & ICQ. If I add them as a buddy, will I be able to chat with them even though I don't have a yahoo or ICQ account? Or would I need to create accounts in order to chat with them?

Yes

Yes you can chat with several people on several account types at the same time.

And yes you need an account in order to use the protocol. It doesnt matter which application you use.

Note

The Yahoo and Windows Live networks do have some form of interoperability. So you may be able to add Yahoo buddies to your Windows Live account if I am correct as I know Pidgin supports it somewhat.
