Unplug USB Memory Stick while Thunderbird Portable is still runningSubmitted by Fumiguard on October 15, 2008 - 4:54am
I accidentally, took out from my computer my memory stick not knowing Thunderbird was still running. Since then, I have not been able to open Thunderbird. The error message is as follows: Thunderbird.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. If you were in the middle of something, the information you were working on might be lost. For more information about the error, click here: - Error Signature The following files will be included in this error report: C:\DOCUME-1\Julie\LOCALS-1\Temp\WEded2.diroo\Thunderbird.exe.mdmp The message also gives the open to Debug - which doesn't work. Can anyone help me fix this problem? ( categories: )

Lose Files
If I reinstall the program will I lose all of my emails and address book?
I don't think so
Don't delete anything. Install T-bird again into your present location. This is how it's also updated, installing a newer version over the older. It only installs the program files. Your settings and personal files shouldn't be affected. See here, under upgrade, I think this is applicable.

In a mother's scolding voice: Get that proprietary software out of your computer!
You don't know where it's been!!!!
Reinstall
It still won't open and has the same error message.
oh
I guess your profile is messed up.
How many accounts do you have?
The easiest way I can think of is makong a backup copy of you thunderbirdPortable folder and start anew. Make the backup, delete the /Data folder and set up your accounts again. Then you can copy your old emails back and it should be working.
