Autolaunch Portable Apps and CoolPlayer

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone knew how to set up my PA on my USB key so that whenever I plug in the USB key on any windows computer, it auto launches CoolPlayer. Is this possible? Any help is greatly appreciated Smile

you could change the path in autorun.inf to coolplayer portable,

or create a bat file starting PAM and Coolplayer and set the path to it in autorun.inf or
use "R34 mod" -unofficial,unsupported- to autostart coolplayer with PAM Mod or
use "automemscan" which also scans the host memory by clamwinportable
all apps can be found here in the forums
else come back and ask again

perhaps I could help, but you should give more info

on what you want. The problem is that you can´t start coolplayer with your desired music. It is just launched and waits for you to start it with the playlist.
If you want to have something like a jingle on every plug in and PAM start it is better to use another way a bit more complicated but very nice. If you want to start with your favourite stream it is better to use vlc player portable because it starts with the last song / stream saved in the playlist automatically. So come back..;)

Yeah you can....

Just get a multilauncher (like psu)...launch CAFE Mod/eXpresso or PortableFileAccosiator, set it to open playlists in coolplayer++Portable, and have the multilauncher open the file.

Oh yeah, I think this was obvious but, set the autorun.inf to open the multilauncher

Thanks, I appreciate the help

Thanks, I appreciate the help Smile

The problem is not remembering the name, I just don't want to have to use autorun every time I plug in my USB.

Basically, what I want is I plug in my USB and up pops media player, similar to what U3 drives do. I'm not so concerned about having the last song displayed.

I have also searched the forums, but haven't found anything I can really learn from, but maybe I just havent found the right post yet.

Thanks again

But that´s what autorun does?Think, you contradict yourself in those phrases. So,
the easiest way is to change the "open" path in the autorun.inf from "StartPortableApps" to

 Open=PortableApps\CoolPlayer+Portable\CoolPlayer+Portable.exe

Else, autostart seems to come with PAM 1.5. You could use this in the meanwhile
http://ptc.kain-planet.de/mod.php though it´s not officially supported. Wink

Awesome, this is very close

Awesome, this is very close to what I am looking for: now when I press portable apps in the autorun, it opens all of the apps I need.

However, I want to take that final step. Is there a way, so that when I plug in my USB key portableapps, and therefore cool player, automatically opens without me clicking anything?

I know there is some talk of U3 doing this via an iso, and this is the type of solution I am looking for. Any help is greatly appreciated!

no/maybe

There is no way to make it autostart without either putting an exe o the Pc or using the U3-iso. Smithtech has a tut on his page but it might be outdated.

Sometimes

It's important to note that many public and private PCs correctly have autorun disabled (it's a security risk) and Vista has it disabled (as will future Windows versions).

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

How does the U3 iso do it?

How does the U3 iso do it? Does the U3 iso work on Vista? Does it just make the computer think that it is a CD and autoplay it?

Basically, I want to be able to plug my USB drive into a computer, and computer, and without clicking a single thing, have the media player pop up (Im lazy :p).

Does the U3 drive still do this? I seem to recall just being able to plug the drive in and having the U3 app automatically pop up, I didnt have to click autoplay or anything.

Maybe my memory is off Blum

maybe

Vista compatible U3 drives still have the CDFS partition. Whether Vista autoplays it I don't know.

If I'm not mistaken there is a U3 u3p file that adds PAM to the U3 menu so you just might be able to achieve exactly what you want.

well,

Actually I think u3 does it from the fake cd partition. In Windows Vista autoplay like that is disabled for security issues but for some reason, not for cds. cds are autorun by default, so you don't have to do weird stuff and it'll autorun on whatever new computer you plug it in on.

And the reason why u3 is only avalable for u3 smart drives is because the fake cd will only work on a u3 smart drive.

Does that explain a lot?

This help?

http://aignes.com/psmenu.htm

Portable Start Menu is a simple and free start menu application that can be installed on USB sticks or local PCs.

Organize your programs in a simple menu system and launch them via a tray icon. If you close Portable Start Menu on an USB-Stick, running applications can be closed automatically, too.
