Firefox and the redirected home folder
ahbrown41 - April 27, 2006 - 8:24am
Hey John,
So I love the U3 Firefox and Thunderbird, but the redirecting of the home directory to my U3 drive really drives my crazy sometimes.. When I download a file into My Documents it puts it into the U3 drive My Documents for instance. When I install program, they put their application data in the U3 Application Data folder.
While this could be conceptually cool it can also be rather annoying as I use my U3 drive at work and it really messes with the computer.
Is there any way to make this an option?
Thanks!

No
In order to be U3 certified, an application can't leave anything behing on a PC... even if it's just a trivial file like pluginreg.dat. In this case, the cure is worse than the disease... but the cure is required for U3.
I'm working on another way to accomplish this for a later version.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
Cool, thanks John!
Cool, thanks John!
Great news
This is great news as I also suffer of this problem.
When can we expect a new U3 version which will benefit from all the improvements you did in Portable Firefox ?
BTW, thanks a lot for your hard work. I love your tweaked apps !
