Official apps are rarely released in beta form so it probably wont be out until thunderbird goes 3.0

I'd also like to try
I'd also like to try Tunderbird beta as a portable app. It runs great in my VM but I don't want to upgrade to the beta on my primary PC. TB beta as a portable app gives me a chance to run TB beta on my primary PC without risk.
the new alpha2 from shredder
the new alpha2 from shredder is really stable and fast i think.
i really like the new options, f.x. u can see whe whole emails source and u can scroll the emails header finally without extra plugin.
