Welcome Cianoz

Welcome Cianoz to Portableapps.com Smiling

Please read the note at the bottom of this page:
http://portableapps.com/support
AntiVirus and AntiSpyware False Positives

You can upload a copy of the file detected to the 2 independent sites listed:
http://www.virustotal.com/
and
http://virusscan.jotti.org/

To get the opinion of multiple virus scanners at once.

If after that you feel confident that it is a false positive you should inform your antivirus provider to update their definitions.

No real virus has ever been released with an Official PortableApps.com app

and again Welcome

Things have got to get better, they can't get worse, or can they?

Hello
My AV Eset Smart security found following malware, Win32/Adware.Cinmus in:
• Toucan_2.0.3.paf.exe,
• WinSCP_Portable_4.1.7.paf.exe,

http://www.virustotal.com/

http://virusscan.jotti.org/

Disagree

It does seem there's something there
reported 3/35 ( three packages found virus) in Toucan

What you are saying is that 32 out of 35 found it clean Shocked

Unless you think that Toucan has brand new viruses that none of the major viruses programs can find it is fairly evident that it is Not a real virus.

But what it really comes down to is trust.
If you don't trust this site, don't use the apps in question.
Have you submitted a sample to My AV Eset Smart and asked them to confirm.

The original post was 3 days ago, the two sites you used to test share their results with all the AV makers they use. In all likely hood if it was a real virus the big guys would have picked it up by now and the results would have been closer to 15 out of 32 and growing.

If you have not submitted a sample yet to My AV Eset Smart please do so.

Salute
Tim

Toucan

I did submit this issue to ESET.
If hey say it is OK I will believe them.
Who should I believe if they say it is a problem?

Cheers
Cornel

Support

On the support page, it indicates two different online multi-submission services that submit the file to a dozen or more antivirus products. Nearly all antivirus products have occasional false positives. Some have more than others.

All our software is virus checked before being sent out. It's packaged in an installer that checks itself to see if it has been altered. And it's digitally signed by Rare Ideas, LLC (our legal corporate parent) so you can trust that it's really from us.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

RE Support!

Thank you all for your kind replies!
I will continue using your stuff which I believe is great!

All the best and Happy Holidays!

Cornel

First, verify with another

First, verify with another anti-virus as said above. If this is a false-positive, it is up to F-Secure to fix the issue, by sending them a report to let them know so they can make further testing.

Seems

to have been fixed now, it got me too yesterday too!

I am receiving a trojan alert

I am receiving a trojan alert from Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 v8.0.0.506 using virus definitions database dated 13 Dec 2008 for Toucan 2.0.3. The trojan ID'd by KIS is the same one as clanoz posted.
