Mobile Media Converter

Submitted by getco on December 22, 2008 - 5:42pm

A very nice and light media converter for audio and video files to convert between mobile formats and desktop formats.

It converts:

from and to
Desktop Audio: mp3, wma, ogg, wav
Mobile Audio: amr, awb
Desktop Video: wmv, mpeg, wmv, avi, flv
Mobile Video: 3gp

I use it to convert my AMR files to MP3 and really love it!

You can find more info here:
http://www.miksoft.net/mobileMediaConverter.htm

It has source code located here:
http://www.miksoft.net/products/mmc-src.zip

And from what is says on the website it seems to be opensource: "This software is licensed under the CC-GNU GPL version 2.0."

So if anyone wants to make it portable that would be totally awesome!

I made it portable

I made it portable. Unfortunately, I cannot access free storage sites from my office, so it's not possible to share it right now. If anyone can do this, just ask the file by email and I'll send you.
There's only a minor issue: I created a small app to start the App\mmc.exe file, in the root folder of the software. Every time I start it, it puts "App\mmc" in the list of files. Nothing bad, as long as you can delete it before starting to convert.

Again, if anybody can put the file in a public server, just ask me to send you by email.

XMedia Recode

I recommend you try using XMedia Recode. It's freeware however there is already a portable launcher for it here. I've been using it for some time and it's great.
