Restoring A Toucan Backup

sgk5765 - January 9, 2009 - 4:23pm

I did a backup of my Portable Apps and documents from a large True Crypt file on a USB hard drive to my PC's Drive C. It's 35GBs of data, and it took over 24 hours to backup.

Now, I am trying to "restore" my backup to my USB hard drive, but all that I see is the following:

===================================
Starting...
Time: 14:49:30

7-Zip (A) 4.57 Copyright (c) 1999-2007 Igor Pavlov 2007-12-06

Processing archive: C:\Toucan-PortableApps-2008-12-21-bkup\Toucan-PA-2008-12-21-bkup.7z
===================================

for more than the time that it took to backup, and I had to abort it. I ran this procedure again a day later, and I got what you see above.

I use a password for almost everything, but I cannot find one for this file. Since I planned to "restore" it in a few days to a resized True Crypt file, which is now set up, I may not have password-protected it. Furthermore, it does not say that I need a password from what I can see above, so what is happening?

When I do put in a password, it says that it is not correct. I take all of that to mean that no password was used. Is there someting that I may have done wrong?

I really need to restore these files right away. Thanks for your help.

I

would try and extract it with 7Zip Portable, it should work just fine.

Trying Steve's Advice

I tried your advice, and it worked, but only after looking further for the correct password. Boy, was I relieved!!!

Thanks!
