Part of portable apps blocked in internetcafes

flachland - January 25, 2009 - 5:50am

As well as the main menu of portable apps as thunderbird get an error message like
"could not initialize the browsers security component.
Other applications like open office work excellent.
What can I do, what the owner of the internetcafe without giving me administrator rights?

Someone else

probably has a better answer....but it's possible that the internet cafe owner has
blocks installed (for security reasons) to prevent any outside applications from running on the computers. There are numerous threads here in the forums dealing with this issue. Also could be a proxy issue, but I'm not educated in that area and will let an expert explain that.

Open Source...., the choice of a GNU generation.

..but Open Office and Gimp are running

as long as they dont use internet

they might all work, but on the net, the owner wants only those things he is able to control in some way.
