Software to make Portable apps

Many of us have been asking for certain types of software like anti-spy ware, virtual machines and many things like that. I have heard there has been freeware, not open source software that can do that.

There's way to make a nonportable program. one is with sandboxie portable, just make sure you make different sandboxies for different software. here's an example; for antivirus software, allow, allow direct/full access for certain folders, and registry keys. i havent tried it myself but it should work in theory. as for virtual machines, qemu is the closest to portable software you can get, and it does suck, you can "try" some virtual machine inside sandboxie but most use services and require drivers. so good luck with that. sorry if this is confusing i'm watching the "big" game Blum

Sandboxie isn't portable. It doesn't work on Vista SP1+ / every x64 and requires admin rights.

QEMU. That's the only free tool up to the task. I can recommend QEMU Manager frontend, it's much more noob friendly.

I have Sandboxie installed on multiple computers, it runs fine on Vista SP1. (not so sure for x64?)

As for qemu, you'll probably need a windows install disk, and the patience for it to install. Unless your running a super computer you'll have to install the KQEMU driver to get reasonable speeds, which does require admin rights, even then it's still kind of slow, but I do agree with you about Qemu Manager Frontend.

There's supposably an easier software than Qemu Manager

This almost left my mind. there this software called JauntPE that can "wrap" (or reroute) applications so they don't write settings any where on your system, although I can't recommend using it as the author (redllar) is rather loopy (is he bipolar, a mad scientists or penguin? cause it's kind of hard to tell with this guy!), and the software is kind of buggy.

he doesn't have a website, and he basically doesn't wan't to be associated with the software that he wrote! also It's been removed from the internets, but in short this could of been the single most useful software for making portable applications, way better than that sh*t software thinstall. maybe someday reddlar may finally comes to his senses and properly release it (with a website, full documention, examples, and non-buggy software in all)

I went ahead and uploaded it.

I can assure I didn't modify the archive, or add anything to it (it's the original from the author). if you don't believe me, go ahead and scan it

Sorry for the SP1 mistake,

Sorry for the SP1 mistake, memory doesn't serve me well.
As for x64, I was correct though, neither XP / Vista is OK:

JPE is in alpha development stage, I wouldn't recommend it except for testing yet, but redllar didn't ditch it, it's still progressing. I agree that his attitude towards it is strange. He knows the issues community finds and fixes them, once added a guide, but he never posts about it himself, it's always somebody else.

And the latest version is NB19. Smile

I noticed the JauntPE was removed from the database, thanks for pointing out the updated version, guess I'll have to bookmark it. Blum
