Portable Ubuntu - Windows Application

This would be a great addition to the Portable Operating Systems category: Ubuntu Linux running side by side with Windows. The Ubuntu windows appear side by side with the Windows windows. This is because the 2 Operating systems are running in the same time.
I have tested it and it runs great.

Cooperative Linux utilizes the concept of a Cooperative Virtual Machine (CVM). In contrast to traditional VMs, the CVM shares resources that already exist in the host OS. In traditional (host) VMs, resources are virtualized for every (guest) OS. The CVM gives both OSs complete control of the host machine while the traditional VM sets every guest OS in an unprivileged state to access the real machine.

sorry I've actually been

sorry I've actually been trying this and for vista it doesn't work properly on vista. you would need elevated permissions and uac disabled for it to work. This isn't really a good candidate sorry mate Sad

But isn't John saying that

But isn't John saying that Vista is not widely used? And it works without disabling the UAC.

Vista support

is really a must. Vista is coming in more and more. And anyway, this is the sort of app which installs drivers, and so on XP and earlier it will also need administrative privileges. (Except Windows 98 which doesn't have such a thing, but I doubt it works in Win9x.)

It probably requires a system restart also.

Summary: coLinux, andLinux, portable Ubuntu and any other projects which use the coLinux kernel, are no go for here. Sad

I did start thing project but...

No luck on windows xp pro limited account. It installs a driver as part of the startup of the program which is not allowed on the limited account.

So overall it is a no go.
