Password Protect Flashdrive

anon_private - February 24, 2009 - 8:55pm

Hi,

Is there a free facility that I can install on my flashdrive to ensure that only I can gain access to this drive? If I lose the flashdrive but if it is password protected then it will be unusable.

Thanks

there are some

for example the well known Truecrypt and other security by obscurity softwares.
But all those I personally tested were only able to work under admin rights on the host machine.

Some of those utils will create fake drives (UFDUtility) but those will not work with any flash, only on some specific controllers.

But even when all is set up, just to pass the password to the usb stick seems to need admin rights, or better say I did met any solution which did not, appart from the U3 stick I have.

alternative to truecrypt

works without admin rights and drivers!
