Thunderbird em português (and other languages)

This post is to help brazillian users of Thunderbird. It explains how to change it from english to pt-BR.

Oi pessoal, to aqui tentando ajudar novamente. Instalei o Thunderbird em inglês no meu pen-drive, criei uma nova conta de e-mail, gostei e decidi passar para o português. Não tive vontade de instalar ele no meu pc, então não tinha como copiar todos os arquivos do programa para o pen. Eis a solução que encontrei:

Antes de tudo, feche o thunderbird se ele estiver sendo executado. Recomendo também fazer um back-up (cópia de segurança) antes de seguir estes passo. Faça por sua conta e risco heim! Aqui funcionou usando a versão 2.0.0.14 (portátil) e com o arquivo instalador da versão 2.0.0.19 (normal em português Brasil pt-Br)

1. Faça download do instalador do thunderbird em português no site da mozilla (http://www.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/thunderbird/ o site tá em inglês, mas baixa a versão em português, ele escolhe o idioma baseado no seu navegador, então precisa estar configurado para navegar em português), salve-o em alguma pasta, não mande executar direto pois irá instalar!
2. Abra o programa 7-zip portable (disponível aqui no site em: http://portableapps.com/apps/utilities/7-zip_portable se você ainda não tem no seu dispositivo), ou outro programa que abra arquivos compactados de sua preferência
3. Procure a pasta onde salvou o instalador do thunderbird, e clique com o botão direito nele, selecione abrir por dentro (ou clique uma vez para selecionar e use o atalho de teclado Ctrl+PgDn, isso no 7-zip)
4. Você verá uma pasta chamada Localized. Abra ela (2 cliques)
5. Agora entre na pasta Chrome
6. Va no seu dispositivo na pasta do chrome, aqui está: G:\PortableApps\ThunderbirdPortable\App\thunderbird\chrome
7. Copie o conteúdo da Chrome do arquivo instalador para esta pasta (clique e arraste os arquivos)
8. Volte um nível acima e agora entre na pasta isp
9. Novamente ache a pasta isp no dispositivo, e copie a pasta pt-br para lá G:\PortableApps\ThunderbirdPortable\App\thunderbird\isp
10. Este é o último. Volte um nível acima e vá na pasta defaults, depois pref
11. Abra esta pasta no dispositivo: G:\PortableApps\ThunderbirdPortable\App\thunderbird\defaults\pref
12. renomeie o arquivo all-l10n.js que existe no dispositivo para all-l10n.sav.js por exemplo, para não substituir ele
13. Copie o arquivo all-l10n.js do instalador para a pasta no dispositivo.

Voilá! Abra seu thunderbird e veja ele em português! Uma moleza!

Existem outros arquivos no instalador dele, mas são para desinstalação, portanto inúteis na versão portátil. Aqui deu certo e aparentemente todas as mensagens do programa também mudaram, assim como os menus, botões, etc.

Hi guys, I'm trying to help again. I installed Thunderbird in English in my flash drive, made a new email account, liked, and decided to change Thunderbird's language into Portuguese. I didn't want to install it on my PC, so I hadn't how to copy the program's files into the flash drive. So here is the solution I found:

Before everything: close Thunderbird if it is running. I advice to also make a backup before following these steps. Make it under your own risk! Here it worked using version 2.0.0.14 (Portable) and with the installer from version 2.0.0.19 (normal and in pt-BR).

Download Thunderbird's installer from the Portuguese Mozilla site (it is in English, but it downloads the version in Portuguese, it chooses the language based on the browser, so the browser must be set up to choose Portuguese as the page language), and save it instead of running it;

Open 7-Zip Portable, or any other program that can open archives that you like;

Search for the folder where you saved Thunderbird's installer and right click > Open Inside (or 1 click to select and use keyboard shortcut Ctrl+PgDn, in 7-Zip);

Inside the archive, go to Localized\Chrome\

On your flash drive go to [install folder of Thunderbird Portable]\App\thunderbird\chrome\;

Copy the Chrome folder's content in the archive to the chrome folder in the portable install;

On both the portable install and the archive go a folder up and browse to isp;

Copy the folder pt-br from the archive to the portable install;

By last, go a level up, and then default/pref/;

On the portable install, rename all-l10n.js to something else, like all-l10n.js.bak;

Copy the file all-l10n.js from the archive to the portable install.

Voilá! Open your Thunderbird Portable and see it in Portuguese. Easy as pie!

There are other files in the installer, but they are not all necessary. In here it came out right and all messages, button and etc. changed language.

Well, I really like how you approached this well, and I'd like to inform everybody that this works with any other language, you only need to change the Brazilian Portuguese language code to yours.

One advice tough: try to do it only if the installer is the same version as the portable install, because if there are any localization changes between versions, your Thunderbird Portable might not work.

I've started using PortableApps a few time ago, so I have read a lot in here on the forum and I've tried to help with the doubts I have been having, but now I think it got perfect in here.

So my advice is the following:
Keep writing in English;
Use Google Translate for words you don't know;
Read English Threads and site;
And don't worry, as I improved A LOT after 2 months here, so will you too.
