Trojan Horse False Positive

cw1925 - April 1, 2009 - 11:56pm

I have the latest AVG updates, and can't use 7-zip due to a false positive trojan horse.

So, what should I do?

( categories: )

report it to Grisoft and let

report it to Grisoft and let them know it's a false positive Smiling and once they update their definitions you should be all set

until then you may need to set some exceptions in avg to enable the use of 7-zip

I reported it to AVG too!

I had the same situation with AVG 8.5.285 today and running that identical file, via VirusTotal.com, shows AVG as the only AV program reporting it as a Trojan. Hopefully, AVG will act on it soon!

Done!

Received an email from AVG this morning and the latest Virus DB 270.11.38/2037 corrects the False Positive:

Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you for your email.

Unfortunately, the previous virus database might have detected the mentioned virus on some legitimate applications. We can confirm that it was a false alarm. We will release a new virus update that will remove the false positive detection on this file. Please update your AVG and check your files again.
