It doesn't ask me for the passwordSubmitted by xavierot on May 27, 2009 - 9:32am
Hi everybody. I dont know what happens, but it's impossible to connect with the servers. I tried with a gmail account, and also with another personal .net account, and nothing. Every time I try to send/receive email, the message "could not connect to server xxxxx: theconnection was refused" appears. ( categories: )

You're probably blocked at work. Try using the secure connections for the same server (the unsecured ones like port 25 for outgoing are nearly always blocked... the secured ones are only usually blocked).
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
thanks for your proposal...
thanks for your proposal... but I've just tried all the options without success...
That is what also happens me.
That is what also happens me. I installed portalbleapps on my USB stick. Created accounts in thunderbird, chanced the smtp server but get no question about the passwords. Unfortunatly my has server has no option for secure login, so I need any hint how to set the password.
I'm using Thunderbird on my notebook too, so I think I'm familiar in the use of it.

if you have no connection
to the server then there is no point to have a password stored somewhere for it.
This is not question of password, but question of connection to the mailserver is blocked by your firewall. You simply can not operate e-mail from that particular workstation.
