Opening an encrypted file doesn't open a password window

Submitted by Clemensot on May 31, 2009 - 8:06am

Hello,

When I try to open an encrypted file there is no window popping in and asking me a password, I'm just asked to select a program in a list to open the file. And when I choose Toucan the console appears ans disappears quickly.
(What is strange is that it worked before)

What can I do ?

That

is very strange indeed, Toucan should never have registered itself as the default handler for the files, I guess you did this yourself in the past? I find it very odd that Toucan used to pop up a box for the password, there simply isn't any code that does this in the command line parser, and I definitely don't remember putting any in, did you get your copy of Toucan from this website or from somewhere else?

Hello Steve ans thanks for your answer,

It is I who set Toucan as the default handler because before that, when I tried to open an encrypted file it said : "The file format is unknown, please chose a program from the list below" (I use XP).

I know believe Toucan didn't open a pop-up window for the password (I must have dreamt of it... it is what I was looking for).

Until now I encrypted a file and decrypted it to read it, is it the right way of use?

(I have downloaded Toucan here)

Yes

decrypting it from inside the program is the right way to do it Smiling However I will see how practical it is to add support for what you tried!

Ok

Thank you,
