PortableApps.com Platform and Suite 1.6 have been released.

A Question About the Generic Launcher

Submitted by dark_yux on June 7, 2009 - 6:12pm

Since the Portable Apps Launcher is being developed does that mean the the use of making custom launchers is dead? (Will everything be done from the ".ini" now?)

PS: Why was the launcher test was put in the Dev. Forum? Why not the Beta Testing Forum like everything else?

Unofficial

As yet, CPALT is unofficial. I'm going to be working with John on the official launcher, but he's not up to that yet, I'm still waiting on him sending me what he's done so far, and I'm not sure exactly what he's planning, last I heard he may just develop on from what I've done. He has been busy with the Format specs and Installer recently. The plan then with it is that the official launcher will do everything: if we come up against anything it can't do, we put it in. Custom NSIS launchers will become anathema Smiling If there's something you can't do, request it as a feature Smiling

The reason why I put it in Portable App Development is because it is for that: it is not an app in itself, but a phase in the development of PortableApps.com and of portable applications.

Also, being an unofficial thing in development etc., this question should go into the CPALT thread. Please continue any discussion on it there, rather than here in General Discussion.
