HOST file ?

Atalon - July 8, 2009 - 11:10am

I would like to block some adds that are annoying on some of the websites I go to. Normally I would just add the domain name to the HOST file and set the IP to 0.0.0.0 or 127.0.0.1. I did this with FF Portable but the adds are still coming up. Is FFP accessing a different file or bypassing the hosts file all together?

Also, since I don't want to mess with someone elses computer settings can this be done within FFP's settings?

No

There's no way that this can be done; the hosts file is a Windows TCP/IP thing. It's possible that there's an extension for it, but I doubt it.

Adblock Plus

There's a FFX add-on/extension called Adblock Plus that can block ads
