Can't install Notepad++ 5.4.4

invasion - July 13, 2009 - 4:21pm

Hello,

Just tried to install Notepad ++ and I've got this error:

Faulting application notepadplusplusportable_5.4.4.paf.exe, version 5.4.4.0, faulting module system.dll, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x0000186d.

It crashed right after the "Installer Language" dialog.
I use win xp sp3.

Thanks.

corrupted installer

Its most likely a corrupted installer. A simple re-download will hopefully fix this. If it doesn't, try a different Sourceforge-mirror.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for your answer.
I tried many mirrors and the same thing...

PC Info

What operating system and service pack level are you using? What antivirus do you have running? Any software firewalls? Sure the PC is virus and spyware free?

Hi,

I use WinXP SP3, Avira antivirus (the free version), and no firewall (not even windows' firewall). I have installed without problems many portable apps, most of them come with the new 0.91.* installer (OpenOffice 3.1, Pidgin 2.5.8, VLC 1.0, Blender 2.49a, SMPlayer 0.6.7 Dev Test 13 - installed yesterday).

I've never had this problem with apps downloaded from this site, that's why I think it's something wrong with this particular app.

Thanks.

Your PC

It's definitely something on your end as the 5.4.4 release has been downloaded over 14,000 times since it was released last week. If it were broken, we'd have gotten a lot of postings about it. Have you tried it on another PC?

I finally succeeded :)

Just moved the installer to a different folder and it worked. That's wired because I've download all the other installers on desktop and everything worked just fine.

Thanks!
