Sumatra PDF: Ebook reading issue in continuous view.

When reading ebooks in this application if the visible area finishes part way through a line of text when you continue forward a full screen you start at the bottom half of that line. Is there anyway to cause forwarding to continue at a place equal to one line back? It is a real pain to have to scroll back one line each time.

More the base app than portable

Firstly, you'd be much more likely to be able to find help with this at the home of the base Sumatra application, over at http://blog.kowalczyk.info/software/sumatrapdf/index.html since the devs here only did the portablization bit.

But, even so, I think that it is highly unlikely that they will be able to help, since that isn't really how PDFs work. They're more akin to pictures than to word files, so the rendering engine (the viewer) doesn't really have a concept of where the lines of text are on a page in that sense.

True that!

Thanks for pointing out the obvious Jimbo. Don't know what I was thinking. Makes much more sense to get support from the apps home.

I submitted an issue report.

http://code.google.com/p/sumatrapdf/issues/detail?id=628

This was after posting to sumatra forum as advised by Jimbo. I was further advised by Victor at the forum to submit an issue report.

If you advance a web page by pressing page down, the space bar or clicking
in the blank area below the pages scroll bar then the page is advanced so
that the last line of text you read is now the first line of text on the
page (providing the page is longer than 2 screens in height). In sumatrapdf
viewer advancing the page by one of these simple methods takes you to the
EXACT place you finished. If your last line can't be read because the
screen cuts it half way through on a horizontal line then when you advance
a full page (or screen) your first line is the bottom half of the
characters from the previous pages last line.

Example: Page 1 contains 20 lines. Line 20 has bottom half of each font
character cut off and is therefore unreadable. Press Page Down or Space and
advance to Page 2. Page 2 commence at line 20 but top half of each font
character is cut off and therefore unreadable.

Solution: Page 2 should begin at line 18 or 19. If sumatrapdf is unable to
read lines then the option should be to advance each page by 90-95% of
current screen.

Spacebar then ↑ does it

I'm settling for this as there hasn't been much interest in the forum.
