Emacs, please!

I'd love, love, LOVE to see a PortableApps version of the Emacs editor. Preferably not something bloated with a GUI, but just a very fast, responsive, text / console based version. Emacs as it was originally meant to be.

This shouldn't be a subset or a "wannabe"; I'm hoping to see the whole nine yards, with scripting support and everything.

Thanks!
Kip

I've been running EMACS 22.1

I've been running EMACS 22.1 under the Portable Apps menu variant R3x for some time. It even runs under wine-doors on pclinuxos. Trying to remember when I installed it, I don't remember if I had to do any funny business with emacs.bat to get it to show up in the menus. I have not tried it under the new version of the Platform yet - I haven't tried to put emacs and the new platform on the same usb key yet. Good luck!

Vim :D

I'm a Vim man myself (hence my own gVim Portable)... I might possibly look into emacs after we've got the PortableApps.com Launcher sorted out (soon).

emacs portable app now exists

try this link or if that fails (it is a beta) search the portableapps site.
https://portableapps.com/node/23470
and it seems to work great (first impression only).

best,
Dirk
