AVG ****ware toke over FF Address field search

AVG @#$%!ware has taken over PortableFF Address bar search even though I don't have add-on or plug-in installed on my PC or in portable profile

what file do have to edit to fix this?

the long story... I was over friends house who is even-less technically inclined than me. He had AVG antiware install on his PC.

I loaded up my PortableFF just to check my e-mails during this I disabled some local add-ons that where slowing things down restarted PortableFF ...when I exited FF I got crash dialog but didn't think anything of it at the time.

I don't usually use the address field to search anyway but now ACG/yahoo.com comes up instead of Google! RAGE!: http://us.yhs.search.yahoo.com/avg/search?p=

I checked my installed search engine and found a (2nd) Yahoo.com ...I removed it with Manage Search Engines... but AVG still pops up, AVG altered some part of FF

can any experienced user help me out -_-

I'm not sure what you mean by "I checked the search engine...", but the first place I would go is:
The search part of the address bar, on the right, has a drop-down allowing you to select your search engine, and a selection for "Manage Search Engines". If you haven't gone there, you may be able to remove it there.

Otherwise, you may want to take a brave step and go into the about:config.

First, back up your Firefox.

Type about:config (no spaces!) in the address bar, and you will see a long list of settings.
You can filter it - try looking for avg.
My default FF install does net display anything for that filter, so maybe if you see something, it might be your culprit.
If you are feeling nervous about modifying the values, post what you find up here and maybe you can get some more exact suggestions.

Notice how the status says User Set, and it's bold?
Try right-clicking and choosing Reset.
That should put it back to the Default, which is what your local is set to.
